Solve : Upgrading OS systems? |
|
Answer» I am trying to upgrade my system OS from windows 98 to windows xp home edition. My questions REALLY revolve around data transfer b/w the two OS systems. I don't want to lose any files. I also want to know if upgrading the OS will cause problems with any of the programs that are installed on my current system (programs preinstalled when the computer was bought), if those programs will also transfer, and what I can do if they won't transfer. This is a christmas present for my mom, and it's her puter and data, so I don't want to screw it up!!! PLEASE HELP!!!An upgrade will keep intact your data and programs. Also wanna check that the hardware is upto it.Yes, be sure to do this. Otherwise, you, and your mom, MIGHT be disappointed. How much RAM does it have? What size hard drive? How much free space on the hard drive? Also, what processor is in that machine? Careful with this advice...this is not neccessarily true depending on the method USED. |
