Solve : upgrading to Windows 7?

Answer»

Hi Everyone, I planning to upgrade my desktop PC from Windows XP Professional SP2 to Windows 7 Home Premium. Since this will be my 1st time, I have no idea if it will work because my main board (posted in its box) said that it only supports XP and Vista. In preparation, can someone assist me in doing this step by step? What do I need to prepare first? Any drivers needed?

Get the drivers now and save them on a cd or a flash drive so that you will have them ready after the install.

Do you want to save anything from the XP installation? Quote from: JJ 3000 on January 31, 2011, 01:46:53 AM

Do you want to save anything from the XP installation?
No.

Oh how about the BIOS? Do I need also to install a new one?

PLEASE check these links from MSI website...
BIOS
Driver

Please advise. There is no reason to touch the BIOS for a new OS install...simply collect all your Win7 Drivers 1st...Okay, thank you very much guys. I'm planning to buy Windows 7 Home Premium by end of month. This will be my steps...

1. Backup all important files from my current OS, Win XP Pro SP2
2. Reformat and install Win 7
3. Install all latest drivers for Win 7
4. Install all necessary applications
5. Restore all Firefox bookmarks --> is this possible in Win 7?Get MozBack for Firefox...
It will create a full backup of your bookmarks;profile; addons and themes....
You can then restore that after the wipe...
