Solve : URGENT HELP REQUIRED?

Answer»

Hello .... this is slightly an emergency as I'm in the middle of my final exams - but my computer has DELETED all of My Music, My Pictures, My Documents, etc .... and nothing remains. Is there any way possible that this can be recovered? Many thanks in advance ... and if someone could help immediately it would be appreciated!

Oh - it's XP. And it happened about 5 minutes ago. And I'm PANICKING! Are there multiple profiles on the computer or just yours? Are you sure you're logged in as yourself? Silly question but it needs to be asked

Go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Recovery. Go back to yesterday and do a system restore.

Alan <>< Turns out I'd just accidentally moved the entire My Documents folder .... how embarassing! Thanks anyway sorry i was wondering if system restore also restores deleted browsing history?

Consider starting your own topic NEXT time.

In answer though:

Direct Quote:
System Restore does not cause you to lose your personal files or password. Items like documents, e-mail messages, browsing history, and the last specified password are saved when you revert to an earlier state with System Restore.

So if it doesn't affect browsing history, then it probably won't restore it. Best advice? Don't browse sites that you don't WANT people to be able to see in your history, or use a portable browser on a USB.
