Answer» Okay, GUYS!! New problem (still having the old as well). Clicking on links inside browser windows, emails, programs, etc as well as typing addresses in the address bar of the browser - this action will open the browser, but does NOT call the link!!! However, if I open a 'favorite', it does open the link. Is there such a thing as a mentally challenged computer? I believe I have one!! UGH!! :-?This computer SEEMS to have a lot of issues!
Because I don't want to fish through all of the old posts, do you have a real Windows CD to reinstall with? What version? That fixes most Windows problems for a while. What is the computer make/model and what are the specifics - CPU, RAM, hard drives, optical drives, etc.I have searched Google. I have used XP's help center. I have searched MSKB. EVERY time I shut down or reboot my computer (even software initiated), the system freezes on the "Windows is shutting down..." screen. Must manually shut down which, 9 times out of 10, requires the system to run scandisk at next boot. New system, AMD Athlon 64 3200, PCIe Nvidia video card, 160gb SATA main drive, 1GB DDR 3200/400, mobo is BioStar NF4ST-A9, usb keyboard and mouse, gblan, 19" LCD monitor with DVI CONNECTION, 450w PS. Not overclocked, not overheating, all drivers up to date, no conflicts, Win XP SP2 with all updates, and YES, a REAL Windows cd. I built the computer or at least put the components together. And as I recall from PREVIOUS posts it has never been totally normal?Correct. Unfortunately.Which browser ? ? Have you tried another one to SEE if the same condition persists ? ?
