Answer» I just got a new mp3 player, as well as a usb flash drive, and they won't work with my Window ME. They DO work with an XP, but I don't have one.
I tried looking in the disk that came with the mp3 player for drivers, but it doesn't have any since my computer is already supposed to work with this thing. I also tried downloading one from the company's website, but the only one I found there didn't help. And the Flash Drive only contains a driver for Windows 98, it didn't come with a CD, and there's nothing on the SITE.
I found that I don't have:
USBSTOR.SYS USBNTMAP.SYS VMM32.VXD (NTKERN.VXD)
I did find a lot of solutions to the ntkern.vxd poblem, but all for Win98 except one, which requires the ME startup CD that I don't have.
Does anyone know where I can get the startup CD? Or is there another way to fix my problem without it? :-?
I DO have a 98 startup CD, but I'm afraid that trying to extract files from it would screw up my computer. :-/
I posted this on Yahoo Answers, but that was a stupid idea in the first place. No one there knows anything more about fixing computers than I do, so I came here instead.
Any ideas?
RE:squirrel Is this detailed enough? I don't know too MUCH ELSE about this. (*computer illiterate*)
I'm running on a Compaq iwth Windows Millenium Edition AMD Duron Processor 128MB RAM
The devices I have are an Imation 512MB Clip Flash Drive and a CreAtive Zen Nano Plus Mp3 player, both USB devices. My computer does regocnize that they're there, and calls it a USB Mass Storage Device, but that's about all.we need all the details. Specs of the PC? Specs of the device? anything else you can tell us? I cannot vouch for these drivers, but I have used this site with some success in the past. Use at your own risk:

VMM32.VXD is already functioning on your computer, or you would not be ABLE to start Windows Me: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=194679
