Solve : USB Mouse shuts down after hibernating...how to fix??

Answer»

My PS/2 port is not working, so I bought a USB adapter for the mouse and keyboard. I have a Compaq with an asus motherboard PTDG01 LA. The mouse and keyboard share a USB port and EVERYTHING works great. Trouble is, WHENEVER the computer goes into hibernation, when Windows XP resumes, neither one works. I pull the usb connection out, then plug it back in, it starts working again. I think this is a BIOS setting or windows setting. Can I prevent it from shutting down this USB port as it goes into hibernation? Windows has a lot of problems with Hibernation.

Do you have to use Hibernation? Another alternative is Stand By. It is more reliable and does a pretty good JOB with staying on low power.also the fact that it is a ps2 mouse might cause the problem, you may want to invest in a usb optical mouse, you can GET them any where for about $20. if money is a problem, ask a friend if they have an extra usb mouse so you can test to see if that is the problem.
