Solve : USB POWER PROBLEM?

Answer»

I have another USB port in the back of the computer that works. when I attached the flash DRIVE to it all the pictures on the card are uploaded. . I don't load pictures from the camera with a USB cable. The USB ports that are not functional are located in the front of the computer. If the front ports are not working and the back ports are, I think it's safe to assume that you have somehow shorted out the front USB Ports LIKE Dias De Verano said.It must have been when I TRIED to transfer pictures from the cell phone. I am going to have a self-powered USB installed, I guess that's the only way I can utilize the pictures from the phone. Thanks again for all your input. I would be lost without out this forum.
No problem.

Just a side note, you can get a USB Hub (something that plugs into ONE USB port and it gives you an extra 4-8 ports).

Good luck.If I get this hub, won't useing it (with it's four ports) cause the only USB I have left on the computer, to overload as well? I only plan to use one device at a TIME, but after this fiasco with the cell phone, I'm hesitant. There is a possibility. Quote from: janey9 on June 24, 2008, 08:48:15 AM

To avoid that problem in the future, get a powered hub like this...

... not an unpowered one like this

Thanks so much, that's what I'll get.The unpowered one looks so simple Some cell phones automatically start charging the battery off the USB port when you attach them, and some USB controller chips don't like that.
