Answer» Hello, it only works when im computer administrator and when i try to do it from a limited account it doesnt work.. Before reading any further, have a little think and see if you can guess! OK you didn't get it... "The "limited" in "limited account" means "having limited permissions to alter the system". Why doesn't it work? Because only administrators or users with administrator permissions can do those things. Microsoft made it that way. Try to guess why! If you cannot create a new account on a Windows XP computer, the problem involves permissions. More than likely, you are not logged onto the computer with an administrator account. The administrator account is the initial account that was created when you installed Windows XP. You can also use a different user account that you MIGHT have created later. How to fix it? Fix it by either giving the desired user account administrator privileges or logging in as administrator. Ok Maybe my fault, didn't make things clear. cant create an account from limited account: general truth the thing i ask is if any way to create another administrator(privileges) account from a limited(privileges) account. and the point of all this is if somebody ever LOSE the administrator password can LOG in from another account and create another admin. account. in my case: i work on the pc in a admin. account(password protected) and i have another limited account on the pc for my roomate. figure out the rest.Simple answer is no. You cannot create an administrator account from a limited account. As far as I know there is no way around it. However if you use the net users command from a limited account you can change the password of another account without knowing the original password. However I am not going to post how to do that on these forums, that is SOMETHING you will have to find out on your own. It is only to be used on home computers. I strongly disagree with this being used in a work environment as it could result in the loss of ones job. As far as i know there is no way to do thisi know the net users thingy but i thought it didnt work from limited. i will try itI don't know if that works for creating a user though. It doesn't create a user. it erases the old password. i tried it and it doesn't work from limited user.. I just saw a list of links to ways of recovering a lost admin password. I wonder if anyone can guess how i found it? nvm THNX all for the replays i just saw that questions like this are often misunderstood because some people may use them for bad. Let's face it, a system that ***just*** relies on the admin password for protection is wide open. Google will tell you that. We get the schoolkids on here wanting to know how to play pranks, etc, and of course we don't tell them how to do it, but the real pros don't ask "How can I break the admin password" on web forums. |
