Solve : Validating Windows?

Answer»

Well, as it turns out, my copy of XP is from a corporate license agreement and can not be validated. So, I need to purchase a valid copy. The person who built my system did not inform me of this.

Final Q: When I get a valid Product KEY, can I update my computer and activate and validate it without reinstalling the os?Yes.

I'd still spend the time calling the 800 #...you may save yourself $100 Bucks or so...Quote from: McGuire on November 26, 2009, 10:23:20 AM

I would also be calling and talking to the person that sold me the comp. Not to belabor this, but what about YouTube videos that tell you how to activate and WGA validate. Some suggest downloading software and some have you edit the registry? I'm afraid to do anything ... I don't know enough...but what about YouTube videos

A quick search on You Tube will provide some entertainment.
But 'cracks' to use pirate software most likely will not WORK anymore.
Microsoft improves the WGA thing and includes it in updates.

But if you find one that works for you, do NOT post it here! Guess I'm just rationalizing ... having already BOUGHT a copy of XP ... then finding out it's not valid. I'll look at the bright side, this gives me good reason to upgrade to 7. Thanks. You're really making this way more difficult than it is...

CALL the 800 # already.Did call the number and they wouldn't validate it because it's a corporate copy. They referred me to support where I need to pay $59. to hear the same thing. You can validate windows by downloading the genuine validation program. if you have a "corporate" copy you should be aware that the person that sold you this copy is doing so illegally.Quote from: BC_Programmer on November 27, 2009, 09:31:24 AM

If you have something like recipient that has his handwriting on it, Microsoft would like to see it. They want to nail these jerks. At least you know who sole it to you. Mine can in the mail with a east European ADDRESS. Quote from: mroilfield on November 27, 2009, 06:00:39 AM
