Solve : Video issues?

Answer»

Hello,
well i was playing a game yesterday, and all of a sudden my monitor got a bunch of lines, colors, and flashings boxes on it. I restarted it, and it still gets the same problem. The problem starts as soon as i TURN it on i cant see the LOGIN screen, the windows xp sreen, or even the loading screen. I really need help becuase my 14pg term paper is on there and i need to get it out pronto. I also CONNECTED the computer to a different monitor , with the same problem. also i know the computer is working becuase i hear the windows log in sound, and i can see images in the background, but i cannot make out what the images are.
Windows XP, 1.6ghz p4, 512ram, ati 7500 radeon series.you have already switched monitors and had the same result, sounds like you need to reinstall your video drivers, if that doesnt work your video card has failed.i cant reinstall the driver, because from boot up i cant see anything on the screen, but boxes lines , and colors, ill be lucky to make out anything behind thatok, remove the graphics card and clean it with some compressed air. clean the fan (if applicable) and clean the contacts on the graphics card and on the motherboard. if that doesnt work, i would suggest a new video card. Will it boot into Safe Mode?well thanks for your help it did not work so i guess ill have to get a new video cardit boots perfectly fine, i can see that things are going so in the background, but i just cant see it clearly enough to decipher what it is saying. What happened in Safe Mode?i could not get it to boot in safe mode, because i cannot see what is happening behind the boxes and lines. You don't have to see anything...
Restart your computer, and start tapping F8 key to get to Safe Mode.okay i did that and the screen still has the same PROBLEMIN Safe Mode, your screen had very same distortion?
Interesting, since in Safe Mode, Windows doesn't load original video card drivers.
In that CASE, you need to hook up your monitor to different computer. Maybe monitor is going south.Quote from: Broni on November 23, 2007, 09:31:25 AM
