I have vista. I was converting a avi to a mpeg and the cursor FROZE on the screen. Two minutes later the vista blue screen flashed on my screen advising me to restart my PC. When I restarted my PC the monitor would not respond and just showed a black screen. The keyboard would flash once. All the FANS work. I've also tried switching out the ram, videos CARD, new cmos battery. If anyone out there can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou!I would start with this: Run memtest86 (memtest86.org)
*Burn .iso to CD and boot from the CD.
*Test one RAM module at a time for at least 2 hours; longer is better up to 7 passes.
*If both modules pass, then test both TOGETHER for at least 4 hours.
*ANY error and the module is bad.
Then, I would test the hard drive with the drive manufacturer's diagnostic tools - download from your drive manufacturer's website.
