Solve : Vista does not recover to the out of factory status? |
|
Answer» DESKTOP machine Windows Vista Home Prem. 32b. Hard disk drive 500GB partitioned C & D. And a 20GB hidden partition keeping the recovery system. What happened: About a week ago, the PC shut down & restarted by itself while a large folder 1.7GB was copying from my PC to several flash sticks of my friends. After copying 3 or 4 times, the shut down & restart happened during the copying process. Many functions were DISABLED after the automatic restart, browser, for example, could not be opened. Recovery: A recovery back to its factory status was performed by the function keys. Everything went on smoothly but the last part of the recovery, the part that configures the time & the PC name & internet and so on was not carried out. The recovery ended by a restart. Then, recovery CDs were used to PERFORM the recovery. And it ended the same way. The message: The following message shows up after the restart. And the system does not boot into Windows. "Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation." Please help. What seems to be the problem and how to solve it? Thanks. What follows is only a guess and is the least invasive method. My guess is the CD/DVD Rom drive is dirt an the CDs set has dirt or grime. In that case you NEED to simply blow dust out of the CD-Drive and clean the CDSs. A DVD/CD should be cleaned with a dry SOFT cloth using a radial motion. Do not wipe in a circular motion. Examine the surface for fingerprints of smudge marks. Wipe gently until the smudge is gone. Use the CD set again to restore the system. It might work the second time. This is base on experience, mot theory. Quote from: Diano on November 15, 2014, 11:04:13 PM Recovery:So, the first attempt involved restoring from the recovery partition on the hard drive, right? When the screen(s) appeared prompting you to enter/select "the time & the PC name & internet and so on", how did you respond? Exactly what happened? And besides, the result is the same if the recovery is carried out by the recovery hot keys. This part of the recovery process DID NOT APPEAR. And the recovery process ended before this part and restarted the system and showed a message saying that Windows could not configure one or more system components. And it stuck here and could not boot. |
