New toshiba satilite laptop, windows vista, wireless to a router to a DSL line. When I start to download a file the download STARTS, you see the image of the files MOVING, the time left changes, and % increases, then at about from 3% to 7% it stops ,the image of the file download continues, but the time and % stay the same. It happens on all sites and all size files. The other computer on this network works great. Thanks in advance.Does this happen on every website you visit?

And are you running a download MANAGER? ?It does happen on all web sites.     As far as a download manager I am using what ever comes with Vista. I did try to dowmload a download manager, but the problem is I can't downloadWhen was the last time you reobtained your IP address?

For Windows Vista:
Go to the Start Menu
Click "Network"
At the TOP of the Network screen, there is a button titled "Network and Sharing Center"... Click it

On the left hand side, under tasks, click "Diagnose and Repair"

If it asks, have it reobtain your IP address.

Z if he's connecting and it shows progress this is not the issue...

mavincal have you tried it by connecting directly to the router with an RJ45 cable to see if there is a difference ? ?Patio, sometimes computers cannot connect to the ISP without a good IP address.
They can connect, but it gets LOST, and reconnects, and gets lost again.

(I have had this happen before, its annoying)
