I had to do a reinstall of Vista Home Premium. I have two HDs, an 80Gb for the OS and a 360Gb of storage and STUFF. The machine was SET up like this from the guy that built it. The HDs are SATA. When I installed Vista last NIGHT, I was frustrated about the problems with Vista and drivers, and wasn't paying attention to where it was loading. Evidently, it took the largest drive for c:/, and made the little one d: Now when it boots up, it seems slow, and it crashes. How do I fix this?Format the drive you don't want it on, reinstall it on the drive you do want it on.The 360 is probably faster than the 80G anyways...why not keep this setup ? ?The reason I didn't keep it was...Vista was loaded on the 320 Gb hd, and the 80Gb was like a storage. originally, the os was on the 80Gb.
Rather than do all the loading again, I just pulled the 80Gb, and put a new 320 in as storage. It runs good now, but the original 320 hd is numbered 1, and the new one is 0. This backwards, ain't it? Can this be changed in the bios? Also, the orignal is a SEAGATE barracuda 320Gb sata, and it has a jumper on it??? Should I remove the jumper? The MB is an EVGA 680i A1.Remove all drives except the SATA that has the OS installed.
Review your MBoard pin placements and hook it up to the SATA1 controller.
Re-boot a few times and power down.
Now hook up the other drive to the SATA2 jumpers and you should be good to go...Thanks...the way it is now, does it effect the way it boots? Or performance?No.
Having more than one OS installed does not affect the other as they don't see each other except for sharing files/folders...
