If Vista was never installed...why would it be taking over anything?
Your internet connection could be slow for several reasons...the ISP, phone, cable lines...corrupt or missing files...MALWARE infection.
Hughes...is that dialup or broadband?hughes is a dish and supose to be fast I have scaned for spy and mal -- the tech that installed said vista is trying to open it but hughes reconizes xp not vistaWas Vista installed...or at least...was an attempt ever made to install Vista?
From what I can gather...the tech is telling you their SOFTWARE is not compatible with Vista...is this correct?
Then again...if Vista was never installed...or attempted, then I think the Hughes tech is just trying to pass the buck.
Problems with satellite connections are many...positioning, weather, etc., etc. Not entirely one of the best broadband connections...if you know what I mean.
However...if Vista was installed as an upgrade to XP, then your network adapter may be causing the problem. It's possible the correct driver hasn't been installed or is corrupt.
Again...this will depend on whether or not Vista was or wasn't installed on this sytem.vista was never installed or attempted -- If you don't mind...could you please visit the following link to TEST your internet connection speeds: http://www.speedtest.net/
Once completed...you'll have the opportunity to create a forum link. Just copy and paste the link in your next post.
It should look something like this:
download 188 upload 123 think i am going to CALL tomorrow and tell them to fix it or take it outThat would be a good place to start...
Let us know what they have told you...and then please post back to let us know the outcome...okay?
BTW...those speeds are terrible for a satellite connection.yes suppose to be at least 600 I don't know who this Tech is or how long he's been doing this but for him to state that Hughes will run on XP only and not Vista is ludicrous...Surely is: http://www.ussatellite.com/hughesnet-faq.html Quote Are there computer system requirements for HughesNet? Yes, however the majority of computers out there today can handle the speeds of the HughesNet system. HughesNet is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The minimum requirements are:
* Windows 98SE or higher (including VISTA) or Mac OS 10.1 or higher, and * Network capability (10/100 Ethernet pre-equipped)
