Solve : Vista Notebook stopped working...please help.?

Answer»

Greetings everyone, I happen to have a free period between classes and thought I would try and help my poor notebook. This seemed like a good place to start. A little background info, I am working in Japan, though my comp was bought in American, and unfortunately the closest Best Buy is in Shanghai, China. But I really need my computer as a means to SURVIVE, given my situation. I APPRECIATE any and all help and apologize for my computer illetaracy.

Problem:
I was making cookies saturday and listening to music when all of a sudden my computer shut down. Puzzled I restarted it and have been getting the same messages since. Windows begins to start up, but then *Startup Repair* runs and runs till it SAYS Windows cannot repair this computer automatically, it askes if I would like to send information about this problem, and then it shuts down. I have tried getting it into safe mode, but the same thing happens. Is there anyone can help me?

Im very worried, because of course I need my computer, but I had just lost a computer last year, bought this one in december, so its only about a year old. I am most concerned that I wont be able to get my photos and other such memories back from my files....but I dont think its THAT bad....i hope.

If there is anything else I left out, please let me know. oh, my laptop is a TOSHIBA A215 if that helps.hi. To alleviate your worries, at least a little, your memories are intact. just dont do anything rash like reinstall.

I'd offer repair assistance, but for the fact that i have boycotted Vista. Yes, I was an NT fanatic (among other things) a proud win2k SysAdmin, xppro professor, and now am looking at Win7.

I told everyone and still do, to steer clear of Vista. Wish i could offer help, i feel for ya. Hey i still have occasional issues I need help on, oddly enough, if that helps any.

Good luck to you with your problemAhh, I am glad all my photos and other things are safe, thank you for that.

It was not my choice to have Vista, not that I knew any better at the time. It was best/most affordable computer in stock two days before I returned to Japan ;/

Thanks for stopping by!Grab one of these:

2.5" to IDE connector...
This will allow you to hook up that laptop drive to any desktop machine as a slave and retrieve/burn your data...
After that do a clean install with the laptop's Restore CD.
This will take the machine back to Day One STATUS.
