Solve : vista restore?

I have an hp dv 6225 LAPTOP,  am trying to restore to an earlier time. I have WENT to control panel>system and maintenance>system, and CLICK "advanced system settings" but this does not present me with a "system restore" button as I have read it should.  What am I doing wrong, please.It should be here:

START --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System TOOLS --> System RestoreIn Vista you can just type restore on the Start Menu and it should open.
If there are no choices then System Restore was turned off...
