Solve : Vista works, XP doesnt? HELP!? |
|
Answer» Ok, I just bought a new computer. it happened to come with vista basic home. Since vista sucks in my opinion because of its many issues, i was going to try dual booting with vista and xp home. I sucessfully have INSTALLED and running both os's, but some of the drivers dont work in xp, but it works on vista. Basically When i run vista, all drivers work fine, but in xp they dont. umm i assure you, im not pulling any strings. I cant download anything, cause the ethernet driver doesnt work (aka no internet) on xp. Hey, you edited your post.. What? Had to vent first? I appreciate that. That's why I'll offer you my handy advise! Obtain the network drivers using Vista then open them from within Windows XP. yeah i edited because i wrote "didnt" instead of "did" omg big whoop?? thanks for the advise, but try being a *censored* Quote from: fallenangell666 on April 18, 2007, 08:08:25 AM yeah i edited because i wrote "didnt" instead of "did" omg big whoop?? You edited and ADDED the whole flame section, don't be timid! I thought that was what I succeeded as. I will try harder! Anyhow, let know if that works. Some POSTING has been revised... if you dont like it, feel free to change it back. Chances are, since the devices in this new computer are, well, new, you need to use a new OS. Stick with Vista. If you dont like its non-fisherprice look, change the theme back. Unless you can find the drivers on the Dell site for XP. Face it, its the future, 4-5 years ago, XP was big, and now its Vista. (Support is ending! Update before its too late!) Your obviously able to use the internet with Vista. If you can't find or use the ethernet driver from Vista in XP you will need to download it. Dell site is a good bet if you know the model number. If not check out your device manager for the model. once you have an ethernet driver your home free. Good thing to do if your playing with drivers a lot is to subscribe to www.driveragent.com. Very usefull site. Don't listen to what people tell you about Vista Home Basic. It is very inadequate for your average PC user lacking many of the basic features Windows XP offers. |
