Answer» When I try to change my DESKTOP theme I get an error message 'Run a dll as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close'. I am able to change the wallpaper. HOWEVER, it's stuck on Windows Classic. I was thinking that this started a few months ago when I decided to uninstall some programs. Like StyleXP and Windowblinds. Since then I've been getting this error. This is driving me CrAzY! I've searched the internet for answers, tried several suggestion, but none have worked. PLEASE help! THANKS!You could try reinstalling those programs, seeing if it works, uninstalling again, and seeing if it works. A Windows repair install MIGHT also solve the problem, but that's a more extreme measure to take right away. Thanks to for 2k_dummy for this IDEA. In safe mode, try start > run > sfcStart Run sfc /scannow and hit Enter...have your XP CD handy...
