I was just looking into my java problem when I saw that I had even 2 IE's, one 32 bits AND a 64 bits!!!! And both work....could that be the problem with Java and Opera 10.54??? An undecisive OS? Quote from: Peterwolfe on June 30, 2010, 06:44:28 AM

No.wow, most of my drivers won't install because they are 32 BIT! and apparently, nobody has made 64 bit drivers for my hardware. I noticed that too. maybe the 64 bit lets you do something firefox doesnt. Please clarify what you are stating... Quote from: Peterwolfe on June 30, 2010, 06:44:28 AM

Not sure what problem you're having, but I can tell you that you're using a 64-bit version of Windows.

64-bit programs will NOT run on 32-bit Windows.

32-bit programs will USUALLY run on 64-bit Windows, as long as they follow all the rules established for them to work in the WOW6432 emulation layer.

Therefore, you can install BOTH the 32-bit AND the 64-bit version of Java in 64-bit Windows.

Now, as far as Opera is concerned, we're not mind readers.  It WOULD help if you say exactly what the problem is that you're having with it...32-bit programs will always run on 64-bit windows, unless they need a 16-bit component or  TRY to do some goofy thunking or something.

However, one must also realize that a 64-bit program can only access 64-bit libraries- and a 32-bit program can only access 32-bit libraries.

So, a 64-bit program will require 64-bit plugins- and a 32-bit program (such as Firefox, Opera, etc) will only be able to use 32-bit plugins.

the 64-bit version of Java does not install a 32-bit PLUGIN.
