Solve : Wallpaper is not showing!?

Answer»

My wallpaper stopped showing one day for some odd reason. So I went to Task Manager and ended EXPLORER.EXE and my wallpaper came back but all my desktop icons and taskbar disappeared!
Can you guys help me fix this? I'm running Windows XP Pro. Have you restarted your computer since this happened?Yes, I have. And when I go to the Display Panel in the Control Panel. I can't change the wallpaper, the Change wallpaper window is frozen.Well, let's GET our terminology straight so that we're sure we're on the same wave length. Here's a screen print of my Display Properties panel. Wallpaper = background, RIGHT? And, where is the "Change" button?

Can you post a screen print of your panel?right click on the desktop

properties

go to the settings tab, and change your color to 16bit.My Desktop Background is not showing. Just some white background.

I went to Task Manger and ended the Process EXPLORER.EXE and my background came up but my desktop icons and Task bar disappeared.

I tried changing the background but the circled area is unselectable.

And Changing it to 16 Bit Mode did not help either. when you say 'unselectable', do you mean like ...you click but nothing happens? or do you mean that you are unable to change your background?I have the same problem. The button won't work, I click but nothing happens. This HAPPEND after I went to a web site, and it shut down improperly.

you didn't do the same by any chance did you?

you could try a system restore, and see if that helps.
I went to the system restore, and it is maxed out and there is no change. What can I do next.are all of your users like this?

if not, make another one admin.

delete your the user which experiences the problems, and recreate one using you're other admin.

see if that helps.May not help but you could try it

Clearing my user account was the answer, I wish I would got the last e-mail sooner so I would have been able to check that as well. However my wallpaper is back. Great job to all of you, it is wonderful that we have tools or people to help US comuter idiots outs. My GOAL is to be computer savy like those of you out there. I just want to thank you a lot.glad to be of assistance.
