Solve : want to reload win xp os?

Answer»

i dont have administrator priviledges and because I C an only get in through the Guest account, I cant even go into the boot mode and change it to where it boots from the CD..

Any suggestions on how I can load a fresh copy of windows. i have the CD
you can't.

however-

since your obviously reinstalling everything anyway- you'll want to clear the BIOS password evidently set. I won't go so far as to spell it out, but the memory storing the password is kept REFRESHED by a small battery on the motherboard. if it was to be removed for a while there's is a chance the BIOS would revert to defaults.

moderators: feel FREE, of course, to edit this post if you feel I've gone to far.The computer is mine, I bought it at a yard sale. The previous who owned it had set up an administrator password which obviously I didnt know. So I COULD only get in through the guest account, which didnt let me download and install programs like ADOBE and stuff because I didnt have administrator privileges.

If it is permissible by the moderators, can I tell you guys how I disabled the passwords?

It is definitely useful info, of course it can be used the wrong way, but then Einstein still revealed his find of atomic energy didnt he?

Moderators let me know if I can post it

there's no need. There is a simple, well-known way of removing BIOS passwords; not a ground-breaking paper on relativity theory.

the question inevitably arises, then, why we don't convey such information to all who pass by. It's actually quite simple; since this is a publically available forum, anybody can access it, and t hus anybody can request help. However, this includes persons dealing with "hot" hardware. Since we cannot actually see the people on the other side, we have to be wary how we vend any information, especially that dealing with working around any security within machines. Of course, there will be legitimate requests for such information (as I believe, myself, to be your case), but we can NEVER be sure wether or wether or not they are legitimate. I hope this clears it up.

Good to hear your back in business! I assume your going to be reinstalling your OS, then? If you need help with that, we'll be here Okay, thanks for letting me know. Anyways I have my computer back up and runing now. Thanks for your help
