I need a guru-type step-by-step explanation on the known ways to get more out my machine, cuz right now I don't have the extra money to invest in RAM memory or any other component...

So I'm  out for help here! I did the defr, cleaned it, have a lot of empty space on C partition, etc.

The bottom line is that I can't play (let's say minecraft) games even though i have 1gb of DDR2 ram, 512gb ram graphic card, 3.2gHz daul CORE processor...

Is there a hope, or am I doomed to play solitaire for the rest of my life (or until I get some extra money) ?
 1) You need to explain your problem(s) in detail. Saying you can't play minecraft doesn't explain what happens when you try. EXACTLY what are the symptoms your system is displaying?

2) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?Is that a copy/paste question? Cuz you always write that!

Anyway, it runs slow as my gramma walks, and she walks REALLY slow! I've put the distance to the MINIMUM, resolution to 800x600, openGL, and other things that I could, and it's running windowed. I always turn off EVERY program and before running it.

Soo, I've runned out of ideas to speed it up..You did not answer the second question.

Also, have you run full SCANS with BOTH your installed anti virus app AND with MalwareBytes? If not, please do so now.Sorry Allan, yes I have and it's clean as a baby's *censored*.If you have done all that regular maintenence and have a clean bill of health then i'm afraid it is what it is...You can cut down the NUMBER of processes loading with the OS. Download and run Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml). Uncheck any items you don't need loading with the OS and reboot. Let's see if that helps.
