Answer» Hi, this problem started only a few days ago and it pops up a few minutes after I start up the computer. It is a clear blue box at the bottom left of the screen. The time it TAKES to appear DIFFERS everytime. Sometimes it takes a few minutes... others maybe half an hour. I also THINK maybe it pops up when I click tabs in the toolbar a certain number of times.
Please help me.
I would start by disabling ALL start-up programs to see if that isolates the problem...There may be a problematic program running at boot-up...
Click START, type RUN into the search box, when the RUN command appears in the menu, click on it and type: msconfig........and click OK
when the program opens up, click the "start-up" tab, and then click "disable all", then click OK and restart the computer... If the problem goes away, then you can likely attribute the problem to some program that needs to be reinstalled or removed...
If this doesn't work, you should boot into "safe mode with networking", update all your anti-virus definitions, and run a scan....Also, download "Malwarebytes", and Spybot Search and Destroy, and run a scan with them.......
edit: if you install Spybot DO NOT install the tea timer! It will just COMPLICATE the scanning process, and believe me, you don't want it anyway!!Do a system restore to before the problem started.Does it move when you hold the mouse pointer and drag it ? ?What is the make and model of your monitor? I am using a Toshiba notebook. I'm not too sure about the model. And no, it doesnt move when I use my mouse pointer to drag it.
I did a system restore first but that didn't fix the problem.
I took blockHEAD's ADVICE and have been using my computer for several hours afterwards and it appears it worked. The problem is gone. Thanks alot BlockHEAD, that was really impressive how you precisely diagnosed the problem.
Thanks to everyone else for the help too! you're welcome
Keeping all those start-up programs disabled will help the over-all speed of your computer, as well. If you get REALLY curious or bored, you could go back to MSCONFIG, in the START UP tab and enable one program at a time, to see which one was causing it... Make sure your antivirus or firewall is running
