Solve : weird error notice?

Answer»

Whenever my kids have been online and leave a window open overnight and when I get home in the morning I click out of the webpage I get this message:

The instruction at "0x62304390" referenced memory at "0x62304390". The memory could not be "read".
click on OK to terminate the program

Can someone please tell me what this means. This has been happening for the past month.

I am running windows XP which was upgraded from windows 98SE
80 GB harddrive
256mb RAM
Available physical memory 40.94 MB
Total Virtual memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual memory 1.96 GB

Also before I went to work last night the mouse was WORKING perfectly fine and when I got home this morning the wheel of the mouse is not working, which is quite irritating
I have a firewall installed which came with the Winxp cd but I dont have a virus scanner installed. I had issues with Norton and uninstalled it.
Can someone please reply and help me figure out what the problem is?
Thanks for your helpYour probably running IE 6 on your computer and certain web pages will do this when you close out of IE6 now.

Update (from windows update site) to IE7 and this will solve your problem... HOWEVER after you update to IE7, check all your programs espescially any that require internet conections.

You might find that some will not work without a patch/fix from the provider of that program.

For instance HP Printers, all-in ones, scanners etc..that rely on a program called "HP Director" to work will not work with IE7 installed. AND HP hasn't got a fix/patch out YET so in a case like that UNINSTALL IE7 (from the add/remove programs feature) and live with your IE6 Error messages until a patch is available and you can then re-update your computer to IE7.

If you ask me... they (Microsoft and all/ any third party program providers) should get there acts together (communicate with each other) before screwing up our lives with "pretty updates" like IE7 that scew up other essential things on our systems.

Hope this helps ya Tony

Technically...they already have our money.....they don't need to do anything....which sux =)Thank you very much...and you're right, I am running IE6, only because I had IE7 before and had problems with opening certain webpages, but if that is the problem than I am not too worried about it, I thought I might have a virus or something.
Do you have any suggestions what could be happening with my mouse?
I already took it apart to see if that is the problem which it isnt
Thanks for all your helpHow olds the mouse? does it scroll perfectly? not on screen, but as in the ACTUAL movement of the wheel .... is there any strain on yourself when moving it ..... it could be jammed...

Tony the wheel moves freely, but honestly, i have no idea how old the mouse is, I got the mouse from another person.
But I do remember now that  Java 6 updated yesterday, could that have something to do with this problem?
And what would happen if I uninstalled the update?
Thanks for all your help
taking out the update should not affect you in any negative manner, and if you can't find out how to uninstall it from the add/remove list, you can try doing a System Restore to a day before the update was installed. Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore ...... it gives you a calender and you can only choose the days in bold basically choose one from a couple days ago and see if you scroll wheel comes back to life. This shouldn't affect any personal data btw.

Now for the IE error message. Obviously make sure its updated to the fullest without going to IE7, also check for spyware and delete your cookies and cache. Check with your kids to see what pages they're visiting......

Question..does that error message from IE always come up when you close it, or only when you get home after the kids have used it?I already did the system restore and that did not change anything, so now I cant think of anything else except maybe buying another mouse and seeing if that makes a difference. I guess I will find out when i get my check.
For that error message it always comes up when i close out of IE, but only if it has been left open for a while, long enough to have the screensaver come on which is about 10 minutes.have you tried turning off the screensaver? possibility that that's buggin out IEI fixed the error message...I downloaded IE7 and that took care of it, weird but the mouse issue i still have and I am gonna buy a new one and see if that takes care of the problem.
Thanks all of you for your help though and I will keep you updated about the mouseYh i really cant think of why it would have stopped working the more advanced mouses have options where you can actually disable scrolling,  but by the sounds of things you said you got it from work so i doubt you would have any software...... i nominate patio to help you on this one , hes a expert on hardware.... he may be able to help you ......
