Solve : Went from Start to Programs and dragged...?

Answer»

Went from Start to Programs and dragged Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office PowerPoint & Microsoft Office Excel to my DESKTOP. When I went back to Start and then Programs, these three are no longer LISTED there. Aaargh!. How do I get them once more listed in Programs? A left click drag moves the icons. Try using a right click drag. When the menu pops up, choose either move or copy or CREATE shortcut here.

Well, it's real easy to drag them out, but neigh impossible to drag them back (heavy sigh). This is my first computer (a repaired/refurbished one) and this is all new to me. This just makes me nervous because I don't have a manual of any sort ... plus I worry that if my computer ever goes down, these programs will be lost. You can return the files much like how you removed them. Click and drag the files and hover on the Start button until the menu pops up. From there, simply navigate to the appropriate folder and place the icons back in there.

Like Sidewinder suggests, when you want to move something without taking it out of its original location, you should right-click and use Copy (then right-click and Paste in the destination) or Create Shortcut.Or you can create shortcuts and put them here:

C:\DOCUMENTS and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\ProgramsThe dragging worked. Heavy sigh....
Montag thanks you and is now off to bed. right click on the start button and choose Explore. The start menu folders now appear as ordinary folders & you can drag stuff in and out of them.
