Answer» Hello everyone!
I'm experiencing a very irritating problem on Windows XP Home. When I start up the machine, everything works fine. But when I put my cursor over a program, it will open multiple windows all by itself. I don't even have to click on it and it will start reproducing itself. The only way to stop it is to manually shut down the machine. I've tried CHANGING the mouse (went from a wireless to a cord and back again) and I've even reformatted my HARD drive. That only temporarily solved the problem until I started loading in my new software. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks alot!
GinaMaybe some of your software is causing it? Try a virus scan and only install the minimum you need to try and find out what's causing it. If you have TIME, install one thing at a time, wait a while and see when it HAPPENS.Scan for Viruses, Trojan Horses and Spyware.
What kind of 'multiple' programs? It could be one of your enter keys on your keyboard is some how depressed and when you highlight an icon it continually opens that program. Try changing key boards. One word..... TROJAN
[GLB]Flame[/glb]Are using firefox? Have to ask, What has Foxfire got to do with this problem??? Meant Firefox, sorry.Hello! Thanks for all the replies guys! Here's what we tried:
We erased the hard drive ONE MORE TIME, took out all superfluous programs (like games and such) and wiped the slate completely clean. Everything was fine for a few days until the problem I described began yet again. Finally, we decided it had nothing to do with software and it couldn't possibly be a virus since the computer was completely clear. I changed the mouse from a cordless to a cord and the problem has been "solved" ever since. If anything new happens, I'll be sure to let you guys know. Thanks again!maybe the cordless mouse did not have the drivers?Have to ask, What has Foxfire got to do with this problem Meant Firefox, sorry. deantn
