Answer» What to Know Before You Download and Install Windows XP SERVICE Pack 2
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sp2_whattoknow.mspx
If your original system is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version preinstalled with the computer, I recommend contacting the computer manufacturer first before installing SP2. Please ask them if any of the software applications and hardware DRIVERS need to be updated for SP2. Otherwise, installing SP2 may CAUSE unexpected problems. Thank you for your understanding on this issue.
This is some REAL good basic advice, . . probably the best I've seen.

Jp ....... So how is your XP SP2 working now ?

I need RAM to install, but if you would tell me, would it be ADVISABLE,
to uninstall a software program that isn't being used and uses 142 MB of
space, or is listed in A/R as that size ?
Will this give me what I need ?
Jp
Jp ....... You should have a minimum of 256 of ram ......... 512 would be even better. If you have software that you dont use, get rid of it ........ but you still need at least 256 mb of Ram for XP/SP2 to run properly Removing programs will only release hard drive space...... it will not increase the RAM capacity.
dl65 don't get caught twice, folks!
