Solve : When booting up screen goes black?

Answer»

I bought a 2-yr old computer running Windows Xp from a business after it had been wiped clean. When i FIRST booted it up my screen resolution was 640 x 480 i was unable to change it and retardedly thought uninstalling though display driver would help. Now when I start up I see the Windows Xp loading screen then the screen goes black. I have tried booting in safe mode but my screen fills up with lines of text and won't load. The LAST line of text on the screen is Multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys

thanksIt's highly likely the boot sector of the hard drive is either damaged or corrupt.

Was the operating system already installed...or did you install it?

Do you have the CD?

You may want to attempt a repair of the operating system.

Any files on it that need to be BACKED up?It came with the operating system already installed and I don't have any files on there. I don't have the CD either. You need to power down and try to load in safemode again...
Only this time let it finish loading.
If it has not been run before or in a long time it can take upwards of 12 minutes...

Grab the Adult Beverage of your choice.

You will eventually need an XP CD...everyone does sooner or later.ok thanks for the help i think i'm TAKING this one into the shop. It's too much for me to figure out
