In Windows '98 we had SOMETHING called scandisk. Where is it in Windows XP?

There is no ScanDisk in Windows XP INSTEAD there is [highlight]CheckDisk[/highlight].

If you open HELP and Support and type [highlight]chkdsk[/highlight] in the search window you'll find out all of the command LINES parameters.

Otherwise right-click a drive icon and open [highlight]Properties>Tools>Error Checking> Check now...[/highlight] , put a check-mark in both boxes and click on OK.

You'll see a notice saying that [highlight]CheckDisk[/highlight] will run when you re-boot the system.

You can run [highlight]CheckDisk[/highlight] on all partitions which are not active WITHOUT re-booting.
