this mite sound strange but i have an e-system ei3103 laptop i brought it second hand off my brother it came with vista but then it went wrong could not reinstall vista. this is where it sounds funny my young son has a acer aspire 1 so i put in his disc to SEE what would happen and before i KNEW it i installed his disc onto my laptop.. but now i WANT to install xp pro but cant get it to install i load the disc it starts to work then it stops and tells me that i have got to turn off cache shadowing but how on earth do i do that any help pleaseMabee this will help here are two ARTICLES on the subject.

Wow...oh yeah i shold say tht if you system corrupt you may NEED to clear the patition first and format the drive.
