Solve : Why is Vista Bad??

Answer»

So I'm building myself a new computer, I've always used XP, and was wondering why Vista is supposedly so bad? If any of you'll could help me out on deciding it would help me out alot.

Here's some of the specs if they might help:

CPU- Intel Core 2 Duo PROCESSOR E8600 (2x 3.33GHz/6MB L2 Cache/1333FSB)

Mobo- Asus P5KPL-CM Intel G31 Chipset w/6-channels, Gb LAN, S-ATA 3Gb/s, USB 2.0, Single PCI-E
MB

2 GB [1 GB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400

Video Card- NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512mb

500gb hard drive

550 watt PSU

Vista is "Bad" because it's different. Sure, it has it's nuances, but so did XP when it came out.

Not that I'm using it. I'm stubborn. But at least I recognize my problem- also my computer is too slow for it.

I recommend the same thing some people did when all the other Windows versions came out- Dual boot between your current ver and the new one. Eventually, you'll spend all your time in the new one, and can simply remove the old one. That machine will run Vista fine...
If you are unsure you have the option of setting up a dual-boot XP/Vista system...

More on this please...

There are numerous ways of accomplishing this but first a set of Guidelines:

1) For the BEST results both should be a brand new clean install with the older OS being installed first.
2) It can be done on seperate partitions on one drive but the cleanest method is for XP to be installed on one physical drive and Vista installed on another.
3) Any programs you install on XP will need to also be installed on the Vista drive/partition...NOTE: some will run without being installed on both OS's but for the most trouble-free setup it's best to do it on both.
4) Official MS CD's should be used for the best setup. This eliminates all the issues that come with using 'ahem" versions of the OS's...if you plan on doing this i'd suggest looking elsewhere because i don't have the patience to try and fix issues with bogus versions of software.

So decide whether you want this all on one drive or 2 seperate drives...give some THOUGHT to partitions/sizes AHEAD of time if you are installing on one drive as it's far easier to do it from the git go.
Let me know.
