Solve : will a windows 7 hdd piggy back a xp hdd?

Answer»

will windows 7 let me piggy back a harddrive with xp so i can burn programs from the xp harddrive It's not quite clear what you MEAN by piggy back...
If you mean can you install the XP HDD to a Win7 desktop machine as a slave drive to retrieve info from it the answer WOULD be Yes.

However Programs cannot simply be copied/moved to another drive and expected to work so i predict failure...
Programs need to be re-installed...this is by design...ok when hard hard drives had master/slave JUMPERS you could put two drives in and make the one you wanted to pull files from as slave and remove them EITHER to MOVE from disk to disk or to burn to disk but with sata drives i just bont know???With a SATA drive put the 1 you want slave on a SATA connecter higher than #2.
You still are NOT going to be able to copy Programs and make them work...
