It is not just the question of reading more memory. The Intel-AMD 64 bit instruction set is now a mature CISC that surpasses anything else widely available. It can lead to very powerful optimized code that can be much faster than anything up to now. Time will tell.64 bit Windows 7 is backwards compatible with 32 bit applications made for Windows 7. It may have problems running programs not built for Windows 7. Fear not, just install XP mode to run your application. XP Mode can be downloaded free from Microsoft. 64 bit is more favorable to users who are using applications heavy on system resources. I am running Adobe CS5 without any problems on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I was ABLE to add memory more than 3.2 Gb which helped alot in what I do. Thank you very much! |
