Here is a good one for you
I have a clean installation of Win XP SP1; downloaded all critical updates for Win XP PRO;
The moment I download and install the SP2, the COMPUTER attempt to restart for updates to take effect and goes only to the original screen of "Microsoft XP Pro" and then completely shuts down and reboots repeating the cycle indefinitely.
Tried to reinstall the win XP a few times, still the same effect
Any ideas?

CGIf you just formatted the computer and don't have any data you need to KEEP I suggest reformatting, INSTALLING XP, and then installing SP3 right away. SP3 has all the latest updates INCLUDED so theres no need to update the system prior to installing SP3, you also don't need SP2.I BELIEVE you need SP2 to install SP3...
