Solve : Win XP wont detect my second hard drive any more?

Answer»

My PC is old but works ok. I have 2 hard drives in the box both internal. My C drive is ok but it wont detect my E drive ( 2ND hard drive). This occurred after i performed a cold boot. In fact it twouldnt start up. I paused the boot up process, brought up on a blue dos screen and entered restore defaults button. This fixed it all but no E drive. Can anyone help?
DescaldecFor any old pc do these thing things first.
1. Clean out all the dust with low pressure air. (Canned Air)
2. Check and exercise all connectors to hard drive, PSU etc. Even RAM. Maybe even the PCI CARDS. But be careful you get them back in FULLY seated.
(You EXCESSIVE a connection buy repeated removal and insertion.)
3. Replace the CMOS cell. Do not test it. Replacer it.

Don't do anything to the CPU unless you know it is overheating.
Does BIOS show what you wanted? Are both drive now recognized? Is Auto-Detect enabled? Reboot again and see.

Routine maintenance on old PCs can solve almost half of the problems users report here. If you still have problems, come back and post more INFORMATION.
