Answer» My Winamp can no longer play avi files with the error message "Video not available, cannot find 'vids:XVID' decompressor". This HAPPENS after I run Spybot the most recent time. I'm doubt it has CHANGED something on my computer.Michael...
Have you done a Google search?

Check it out...looks like you need to install some video codecs.I've tried many video codecs found on the web (even from the Winamp site), but none of them work the way I expected. Before this, avi videos were playing like other videos in Winamp's video window. But with those codec, the avi videos are playing on a separate window.
I've tried to reinstall Winamp but doesn't help. And I don't remember I've installed any codec before.
Also, beside this avi problem, I am also unable to VIEW thumbnail on certain websites, since I did the Spybot scan. Wondering what had it changed on my system.Solve the codec issue with the DviXInstaller.exe from http://www.divx.com/ Thanks.
But STILL have problem with the thumbnail.I'm assuming you've used other players then?
At any time did you have the DIVX player installed?I installed the whole package included in the DviXInstaller.exe which includes a codec, a converter, a player and a web player. I don't play the avi with the player but with Winamp as usual, and it can be played now after I installed the DviXInstaller.exe package. Maybe Winamp uses the codec from the DviX program?
Anyway, any thought on the thumbnail issue? Perhaps I should start it in a new thread to catch more attention due to the subject.
