Answer» Hi. Recently did a complete uninstall / reinstall of my entire computer. I'm now running a Pentium II 466Mhz, with 64MB of RAM and an INTEL 810 internal graphics card, and a 4GB hard drive. Everything has worked fine for about a year but now my Virtual Memory swap file (win386.swp) has grown to be 1.6GB on the C: drive. I'm technically only using 1GB of my drive for files, and 2 GAMES (Virtua Cop 2 and Championship Manager 2001 - 2002), but after boot-up I literally only get abut 15-20 MINUTES of using my PC before it tells me it can't do any more. When I boot-up, the swap file is small and gros in those 15-20 minutes. But it was working fine last week; this is very a recent problem. I know this website said the swap file can "grow very large" but surely not to 1/4 of the drive's size in such a short time from boot-up. I also have EasyMessage, Word '97 and Winamp installed. |
