Answer» I just tried to install a copy of windows 7 home PREMIUM on my computer, and while doing so recieved a message that the installation could not continue and that I needed to uninstall my Intel Proset Wifi software. Well this made no sense to me because then I would not have internet access for the installation, but I just did what it said to do. When I tried an install again it of course said I needed an internet connection to continue. This makes no sense at all to me. Anyone have any ideas whats up with this
ThanksI don't know the answer regarding the WiFi issue but can't you connect to the Internet via cable, at least to complete your OS installation?check the microsoft win7 install db on their site, there might be a solution thereI thought I was going to have the same problem when I initially tried to install Win 7 on my WIFE's laptop - only to find-out I could do a fresh install - however, I did get as far as the part where the upgrade disc uninstalled my WiFi drivers, and a couple other things. Thank Dell for supplying the driver discs with the initial purchase!
Anyway, with the Upgrade discs I recieved the first one is the Upgrade "Compatibility and Set-up" Disc - this one is the culprit that uninstalls uncompatible drivers and programs. Before it told me that it was about to do this, it WARNED me of this and the fact that I would be told to put this disc in after the installation finished so that it could re-install the correct drivers for what it had removed.
Yes, this would leave you high and dry for the WiFi connection settings and your Validation of the Poduct KEY Code, but only until the "Compatibility" disc recovered your driver(s).
And, you could always just use the good old ethernet PORT with its proper cable - if you don't wish to wait that long.
