Solve : Windows 7 - Nvidia windows kernel mode driver version 301.42 stopped responding?

Answer»

It seems to happen with different cards and seems to be a wide spread PROBLEM. I have a gtx570 card. It happens during various games. The  nvidia drivers are up to date.
So far, I've read through a lot of forum posts and tried numerous different things, including; low video settings, disabling all visual upgrades from Windows 7, selecting the video card in 3D settings in Nvidia control panel, and numerous other things. Please come up with a real fix!

Please someone help! What different cards have you tried?
What are your full system specifications?
Have you tried some older drivers?

This problem can be caused by a number of different things, the answers to the above will help narrow down the cause. It seems other people have the very same problem with other cards.
I tried these diver version:
version 304.79.
version 301.42
See attachment
if the fault was here the newer driver version  should have fixed it. I think there is an other reason!

[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]Good morning Lemon and welcome back to CH

From reading your posts your video driver is giving you an issue. I also went through the text file that you attached 2x. Nothing is sticking out

All memory is the same speed etc. By the way very nice set up from what I can see going off of the text file;D

But I do have some questions for you.

#1... Who's drivers did you use for the "Intel Chipset drivers" & "Asus Video card drivers" (Windows drivers or Drivers from Asus)
#2... What games are the issue and do you get any error messages / BSOD
#3... For the hard drive in the BIOS is the sata hard drive set as IDE, Sata, AHCI, etc. (I know that you do not have a raid set up)
#4... When windows 7 was installed did the sata controller drivers get installed during windows installation?
#5... Who's PS (power supply) in in the PC and what wattage?
#6... When you are playing a game how smooth is game play. Do you get any ghosting of images, any ripping, taring etc.
#7... Is there any yellow or red devices in the device manager?

Hope to hear from you soon, Mike     Hi and thanks

Am I safe to assume that the drivers are from Asus??? the driver numbers cover every MANUFACTURE that makes MOTHERBOARDS & video cards.

Now years ago I used to use strictly only "OMEGA drivers" from way back when ATI had all the driver issues. But you may want to try them. Here is the link if you wish to try them http://www.omegadrivers.net/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=section&id=2&Itemid=55 just pick you windows version.

I don't have any more suggestions to give you because in the last post I had put in some questions to try help you but in-order to pin this down more we would need more information.

Hopefully these drivers will help, Mike  I downloaded the graphic driver directly from Nvidia
Working on the rest of the answers
omega drivers does have win7 yetHave you tried any older versions of the Nvidia drivers?  You said in your first post that this happens with different cards, which have you tried?
The issue is USUALLY down to either a bad driver installation, (rarely) an issue between the card and motherboard, or a faulty graphics card.
When you installed the drivers, did you check the "perform clean installation" box?  This can sometimes help, by removing all traces of previous driver versions.
