Answer» Update:
I finally just took my hard DRIVE back to the place I bought the computer from. The tech guy hooked it up to his station, and said "Oh, you just have some corrupted files on here. I'll fix it for you." So he said the drive was OK, and said "It should boot up fine now."
I got it home, plugged it in, and it went straight to Windows. Great. BUT... When I logged in, things started getting weird.
After loading my desktop and icons, it gave me this little teaser of a warning in a pop-up: "Application Launcher: Unable to load configuration"
Now: I have NO ACCESS to the START MENU. My only access is to the desktop icons. I can view my files, but I cannot do anything with them. I can't copy them. I can't drag them into a different folder. I CAN create a New Folder, but I can't put anything in it.
Note: After READING a COUPLE of other threads & forums, I'm getting a bad feeling that it might be my CPU. In other news, I can't get the new hard drive I bought working, either. I'll post that in a Hardware thread, I suppose.
Any advice?
Cheers!
see if you can get in safe mode with networking.. if your still having problems with the same issu from the beginning... your OS still may have to be repair or reinstall.
IF you can get in safe mode with networking... go to this WEBSITE... for a free virus scan. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Let US Know and will take it to the next step! spiderGreat idea spider.
I'm successfully in Safe Mode w/ Networking, and it's scanning!
Thanks! I'll post results. Troy
(I'm a little worried from other info I've read that this may end up being my CPU.) Ok, here's a screenshot of the FIRST portion of the scan:
Ok, I hit "Clean Now" at the bottom of HouseCall, and then scanned everything again.
The Trojan is gone, but the 2 infections of WORM_SMALL.HYN are still there.
Tomorrow, I'll try to look up how to get rid of the worm.
Thanks for the help! TroySome useful reading:
