Solve : Windows File Sorting Problem? |
|
Answer» Alright let me explain and give a example of my problem. For some reason my file sorting wont sort correctly with numbers Example: 1.mkv 11.mkv-19.mkv, 2.mkv, 20.mkv-29.mkv im sure you get the idea, this occurs for Explorer and programs like torrent clients EVEN Media Player Playlists. I try sorting in explorer and thats how it sorts the files, same thing when sorting by name also. 1.mkv 11.mkv-19.mkv, 2.mkv, 20.mkv-29.mkv Isn't that the normal Windows sort order? It's ASCII sort order, I think is the problem (the 2.mkv appears between 19 and 20). Windows XP (and maybe Vista, can't remember) used this for sorting. Windows 7 uses "Natural" sort order, which sorts values with corresponding numbers as one would expect. 2.mkv appears after 1.mkv, not between 19.mkv and 20.mkv. That being said, when I first saw this topic I did a quick SEARCH to see if there was some sort of way to accidentally "turn off" this feature. I couldn't find anything that SEEMED like it could be the problem, though. |
