Answer» hello all NEWBIE here,
Apologies if this thread has already been discussed. My main home COMPUTER has gone down, I try to turn on my pc, it sounds as normal but nothing coming through to monitor, keyboard or mouse. It went ok breifly yesterday, i ran a system optimizer PROGRAMME it gave me a small message that "windows has locked drive c:"
My os is XP home edition. 3.2 celeron D cpu, Maxtor 200GB hdd. 1gb memory. I have an XP re-boot disc.
can any one help please. MANY thanks harrybean.
ps I'm currently using my old tiny pc.
pps. I have read the articles on unlocking my HD but I can't get a signal to my keyboard, mouse or monitor.
edit: further info. After getting the "locked drive" message I went to the XP help pages tried the suggestion that said insert XP back up disc then turn off then on, but no LUCK. PC powers up but no signal to monitor, keyboard or mouse. can you get into safe mode if so do a system restore
go to start
all programs
accessories
system tools
system restore
pick a date before you used the system optimizer program.
what was the programs name?Hello unlovedwarrior, Thanks for your reply. I can't do anything on it at the moment, nothing coming through to the monitor, keyboard or mouse. When I turn on sounds as normal but nothing else. the problem seemed to disappear yesterday, that was when I ran the optimizer programme (system mechanic pro6) it highlighted the "windows has locked drive C:" problem. I have used it without problems for several months. I would not have had any idea about the "locked drive" without it.
I hope that provides more info, please excuse my technical ineptitude!!
Many thanks harrybean.
