Solve : Windows Live Mail with windows 7?

Answer» HI,
I have a friend who was trying to send a bunch of photos one night...after a few too many. Anyway he tried to send a folder and not the files. The mail server didn't like it and sent back an error. I have looked at the mail folders...inbox, sent, delete...etc. and can't find the bad email anywhere but each time we open the program it tries to send the folder and gives us the same error. Does anyone know how to clear out the error?

The message could not be sent because its size exceeded the server's limit. You can use the option, located in Tools | Accounts | Properties | Advanced, to break messages into smaller parts.

Subject 'Emailing: New folder'
Server Error: 552
Server Response: 552 5.2.0 aN5W1e00J5BzEHi02N5W7p attachment extension is forbidden
Server: 'smtp.east.cox.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC6D
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No

There are limits on all servers for file size. You could try compressing them using winzip or some other trusted software. Also try sending them individual and not as a folder. You may have better luck.
Hope that helps.

And try clearing out the browsers cache. Is there a Drafts or Unsent folder in Live Mail ? ?
Perhaps you'll locate the folder there...In my WLM, I have an OUTBOX. It's at the bottom of the other (Inbox, Sent, etc.) email folders. I'd take a look there. I apologise for my post.. seems more prevention the cure. My bad What you could do is go in 'Tools', and 'Inbox Cleanup' (not sure for the exact terms, I have a french version).

Then search for large files, and maybe it will show up. Just right click and delete.Quote from: Mulreay on June 28, 2010, 09:31:01 AM

No apology NECCESSARY Mulreay...Howdy all

Thanks for the ideas. I did check though all the folders and found nothing to do with this.

I can try this inbox clean up. Maybe that has a shot at it.

Its strange. The program still works and he can get new mail and even send mail but each time he does he gets the same error which he clears and then things are back to normal until the next send and receive.

He may want to contact the ISP...I can try that also....

The machine has 2 users on it. His is the only account with the problem the other account works fine.

I was thinking about killing his email account and remaking it.

The file/folder is not going to EXIST in the inbox since it was something he attempted to send...so you can safely ignore that tip...
