when i turn my computer on the scan disc comes on and says it is checkging for ERRORS i let it go though this prosess
it cecks it then it just freezes .if i press cancel it still freezes i left it on like this for hours but nothing happensTry starting in safe mode then do a normal shutdown.
Then turn it back on & see what happens.how do I start up in safe mode?
I cannot do a normal shutdown, when I start it up 'scan disk' comes on, and that is all it will do. I can't shut it down properly.tried it in safe mode it does the same as in normalboot to safe mode........then chose from the LIST.......start pc  from the msdos prompt........a:\>          then type scanreg/FIX after the prompt. Now what happens.the computer will not boot up when i put the power on  the scan disc check comes on, this happens even when started in safe mode if i cancel or let it compleat the check it freezes and nothing happens i can,t use keyboard or mouse, the egg timer comes on and stays on but nothing happensSounds like a good time for a format and reinstall.You are not reading the screen, look back to Merlin's posts.
then chose from the list.......start pc  from the msdos promptHave you played about with the autoexe BAT file...i,m not to bright with computers, could you give me a step by step in struction s on how to fix it in laymans if pos, sorry about this but i just can,t seem to fix this problem
