Solve : windows media edition kills my computer?

Answer»

i place the windows media 2005 EDITION into my computer and it makes my CD drive dissappear from 'my computer'.
computer doesnt see CD when rebooting either. regardless of CD drive being 1st in boot sequence.
i have a Samsung CD-RW/DVD ROM drive and currently running XP Home.
thanks,
luke mylogon341.......  Are you saying that you had win XP Home edition installed , and you FORMATTED and installed Windows Media Center ?
Perhaps you COULD CLARIFY and explain exactly what it is your trying to do ........

dl65  xp home edition is currently installed. i cannot get media edition to boot in the boot up sequence. thought i'd try the disk when xp home was running and it makes my cd drive dissappear from my computer (until the disk is removed, when it reappears)
sorry, im kinda doin a few things at once. rushing.
thanks,
luke mylogon341.... Windows Media Edition 2005 .... is a complete operating system .
If you wish to Install it instead of XP , you MUST do a clean install ....... That means formatting your hd ...... and then install the new operating system ....... or are you talking about dual booting ?

dl65  And is this a legit CD that says Microsoft all over it? Or is it a restore CD for another computer system? Or what?
