Answer» Hello everyone,
I have been using windows media for dvds and avi, etc, but a week ago i started getting wmp and there's a white screen that blankets over my screen (as if someone had turned up the brightness settings). It doesn't matter if its a dvd or an AVI file that is on my hard drive, it will still have that white screen. I attempted to reinstall wmp and as well as updated my drivers on my 7600GT, but it didn't help. I attempted to mess around with the brightness settings and that only screwed up the colors. However, strangely when I played AVI files on the Divx player, then everything was fine. So i tried other programs and they all had that white screen associated with it.
My system is currently running XP with most everything updated. I have various codecs and AC3 filters installed. This issue is annoying me a lot and if you guys can help me out, I would really appreciate it, thanks! Can you take a screen shot of what is happening?
What 'other programs' have you tried?A screen shot is a good idea because that will tell us if the problem is in the system or in the monitor. Is the "white screen" over everything or just the video? Is it possible it is over everything but only noticeable when watching video? A few more details would be nice.
Have a happy holidays.Hi and thx for the replies... I have taken a screenshot of the movies using VLC media player and DiVX player. I attempted to take one with WMP but unfortunately they don't let you display screenshots from that so i cannot post it. However, the VLC media player is showing what happens on the WMP. The screenshot is of the same exactly copy of Superbad at the same exact second. This white screen occurs throughout the board with all my PLAYERS EXCEPT for Divx. DVDs are no EXCEPTION. Thank you for any help you guys can GIVE me.
Attachment: The picture on the left is of the "white screen" and the picture on the RIGHT is that of DIVX.
[saving space - attachment deleted by admin]Graphics card drivers usually have a section for adjusting brightness and color settings for video playback. Have you checked whether these settings have been messed with?no i haven't... in fact, i updated my drivers to the latest drivers and the problem was not fixed. Even though you updated the drivers video settings might have persisted. Whenever I update my graphics card drivers it still retains my custom settings.
