Answer» No a LAPTOP CD from a different machine will not do it... You need to find your XP CD.I am going to have to put this machine into a shop. What are the possibilities of recovering my files. I since found out that a few of my mates have had a similar experience with SP2 and xp pro,shouldn't MS be aware of this. thanksYou need to tell the people at the shop that it's VERY important that they RECOVER your data before fixing the machine... You may have to say it a few times to be sure.
