Solve : Windows.old file in Win 7 upgrade install...?

Answer»

The question is, can I delete it?? A bit over 10 gigs of waste if it's not needed.  This was an UPGRADE from Vista install. Was done 12/07/09..... all is WELL, WINDOWS 7 is great!! Kind of forgot about it, until doing system scans, and saw it scanning all the .old stuff....
So, SINCE it's run for 6 MONTHS now, is it deletable?? Or are there "used" parts the system needs from there?? I know nothing about the needs/use of the .old backup, once the install is completed. Is it there in case of the install failing or what???
Thanks in ADVANCE.... Quote from: Hankster58 on June 21, 2010, 08:05:05 PM

Yes.  You can safely delete it now. Reference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/How-do-I-remove-the-Windows-old-folder Cool! thanks a lot... I know it was a lame question, but....No such thing...
