Answer» Ok. 1 - WHY would after MONTHS & months of being able to use this computer - All the sudden - it won't let me use it & wants a WINDOWS PASSWORD? Why would it all the sudden be asking for it?
The username is indeed mine - but I have no idea what the password is - I've not encountered this screen before as far as I know. What would've HAPPENED to where all the sudden I can't get on due to this?
2 - Now, I try to press f8 & enter thru safe mode - as my techie suggests ---- but I still come back to this same screen - If I don't get to this screen - Selecting Safe Mode brings up a bunch of DOS looking Jibberish with no prompt. What in the world do I do with that?
I guess I'm going to have to PAY for my techie to come for a home visit.
If you could advise me what this Safe Mode jibberish is & what I do I'd be much appreciative.
Otherwise, can you tell me WHY it would all the sudden be asking for the windows password when it's gone right by this & worked well for months & months?
All I can say is that I did not steal this computer - tho I don't expect anyone will believe me.
In lieu of telling me how to get thru, could you please HINT as to why this is all the sudden stopping me? or what this safe mode dos looking jibberish is & what to do about it. I'm tired of booting this thing over & over & over f8ing & hoping to get back on line. Bet my Techie could fix it in a heartbeat - I just hate to pay him $75 to do it.The safemode gibberesh is normal...you have to be patient and let it load all the way. If safemode has not been used in a while this can sometimes take 3 or 4 MINUTES....
Another thing you can try is when prompted for a password if there never was one just try hitting Enter and see if this let's you continue.
I have no explanation for why this would happen all of a sudden except that it's Windows....Can we just get something straight... this is how you spell "gibberish".
patio is right, you have to wait a while for safe mode.
You have never set a password for that account? Is this your own personal PC or is it a shared family one or at school or work? Has anybody else been monkeying with it? Can you interrogate them? Have you tried pressing Esc or Enter when it asks for your password?
First I would try Contrex and Patio's suggests and if they don't work, please consider mine. If you're using Windows XP Home, I had this same thing happen to me. I went into the user accounts under control panel and something called .Net or ASPNET had created an account. (I don't remember the exact name.) Anyway, I think it had happened when I went on to the MSN Hotmail site. I deleted this account, which, as long as it's not your primary account is ok to do. After that, I rebooted and the system didn't ask for a password again. If you need more details, let me know. Hope this helps a bit.
